Provenance

SOI Ltd can provide elemental and stable isotope analyses to help determine the provenance of organic items such as plant material. The pattern of trace element distributions can vary regionally, with some regions characterised by high levels of particular heavy metals, and others by groups of trace elements. We can profile over 20 trace elements and perform analyses to help determine geographic origin of materials and compare them with other samples of the same type.

Elemental, mineralogical, particle size and Scanning Electron Microscope analyses have been used widely to carry out Quality Assurance on a range of manufactured goods. The experience we hold in materials analysis, interpretation of results and problem solving means that SOI Ltd very well placed to identify potential causes of variance in a manufacturing process.

SOI Ltd can carry out studies to determine the provenance or chronology of fluvial and geologic material, including luminescence dating, stable isotope/ radioisotope analysis and bio-stratigraphy.
